Recently, every time I open Translator Workbench and then open Word, the TW window disappears as soon as I attempt any operation in Word. It is still showing at the bottom of the screen as minimised and I can select it again but the same thing happens (plus the Concordance window disappears also, if open) the next time I do anything in Word.

The strange thing is that when I started this translation, using the same memory, this did not happen. I have tried shutting the system down and even after being shut down all night it still does it.

I have searched past topics but found no recent reference to this problem.

Regards,
Chris Pott

Resizing WB windows to default Dec 3, 2007

Hi Chris,

You might want to look at this message from the TW_users archive.

It involves fiddling with the registry so be careful!

Hi Giles, Dec 3, 2007

Hi Giles,

Thanks for pointing me to the reference. My problem is not that the window is off the screen when reduced in size. It appears in its normal position when selected from the bar at the bottom of the screen. It just disappears altogether when I do anything in Word. So I don't see any relayion with the proble you referred me to, but thanks anyway.

Regards.

Chris

Pin on Top Dec 3, 2007

Hi Chris,

Have you tried View > Pin on Top? (Even if Pin on Top is already selected, it might help to select it again.)

Pin on top? Dec 3, 2007

Hi again Chris,

Sorry about that.

I'm probably not visualising what's going on here. Is Trados shutting down altogether or disappearing "behind" other open programs? If it's the latter, you could try "pinning" Trados on top (ie, making it a top-level program even when it is not active).

There's a toggle command to do this in the View menu of Workbench.

Best,

Giles

That works Dec 3, 2007

Hi Christiane, hi Giles,

That has worked as far as keeping the TW window on the screen. But Concordance was not available and I had to activate it from the TW Tools menu. Even then it was not referencing any TM so I had to select the TM in Options under the Concordance window.

So it's working now (until I exit Word at least) but I still have no idea how it happened.

Thank you both for your help.

Regards,

Chris
