Hi all,

I wonder if any of you used the Perfect Match feature in Trados (formerly known as xTranslate or Context TM)?

My question if it's any good to use this in conjunction with material that was generated from Winalign?

The scenario:

I have the old source and target file in Word only (no TTX exists, the translation was made by someone else).
Now I received the new source with some revisions.

The scenario:

I have the old source and target file in Word only (no TTX exists, the translation was made by someone else).
Now I received the new source with some revisions.

The first step is obviously to WinAlign the old version.
I've done that, and I'm very confident that everything is fine in the resulting TM, so I've set the penalties to 0%. So these segments would all show up as 100% when translating the new version.

But I want to speed up the process even more, by utilizing the Perfect Match function.
This requires TTX files of the old version.

My theory is that I can crunch the old version in TagEditor against my aligned TM. After that, I can use the TTX and benefit from Perfect Matches when translating the new version.

Does that make sense, or is it a futile excercise?!

Hello,

if you retranslate your aligned file with your TM you'll get a TTX file, that can be used for that purpose.
