Hi

It's me again!

How can I merge two separate TMs in TRADOS? I always get this error messsage: Error code 50028: The import file C:documents and (here it stops)

What should I do first???

You can begin with Adam and Eve...

Thank you very much

This is what you do Dec 10, 2007

1. Open one TM and export to txt or tmx.
2. Open the other TM and import the first TM.

Search the forum first! Dec 10, 2007

Marta,
This is a very basic task in Trados, to export a TM into a txt-file.

Search the forum, simply enter: +TM +export +txt
...and the relevant answer will pop up!

Missing part of the error message Dec 10, 2007

I didn't look up the error code, but it looks like Trados is trying to tell you that the import file and the file you are importing into don't share language pairs. This is a mere guess. This can happen when you are trying to import into en EN-US to FR-FR file another TM that is EN-US to FR-CA. Make sure both your TMs use the same language pairs.

If you would like to merge two TMs but have some kind of problem preventing you from doing that, you can try to use ApSic XBench instead. It's free and you can download it here:

http://www.apsic.com/en/products_xbench.html

What you need to do in XBench is create a project into which you will import the first TM. You need to specify the language pairs of the TM - this doesn'T have to be the same as the actual TM language pair, so you can play with this to make your two TMs fit even if they are not exactly of the same language pair. Then, you add the other TM into the same project, but make sure you specify the same language pair for this one as you did for the first one. Once the project is finished, you need to save it and then you only need to export the entire project as TMX.

All the best!
