I want to edit doc files with tageditor to save all formats and tables the same, but some .doc files don't open with TagEditor. Could anybody tell me why and the best way to translate and save the original formats the same?
Trados Version is 7.5
Thanks in advance

You need Trados version higher than 6.5 Dec 27, 2007

If you have 6.5 or lower, you cannot open doc files directly in TagEditor.

Please indicate your Trados version.

What error message do you get? Dec 28, 2007

Hi Mahmoud,

You're trying to open a .DOC file in TagEditor (Trados 7.5)?
But you are able to translate the same file in the Word interface with TWB (my assumption)?

Exactly what error message do you get? What's the error number - did you try searching for this on the SDL support web?

Some troubleshooting tips:
1. What Word version was the file created in? Maybe it's a DOCX file from Word 2007 in disguise?
2. Try opening in Word and resaving as RTF.
3. If track changes are activated, or if there are comments, this can cause trouble. Make sure these options are slated.
4. If the file is corrupted, try the "open and repair" dialogue from within Word first...

Post your results back here.
