Is there a programme purely for alignment? Thread poster: Heather Lane

Hi,
I would like to know if there is any FREE software to download for alignment. I want to create alignment files (.txt) without having to buy TRADOS in order to use WinAlign. A similar programme that does the same job as WinAlign is what I'm looking for.
Can anyone help?

Lots.
Bitext2tmx, Wordfisher, Wordfast PlusTools (still free, AFAIK), the Cypresoft aligner (if you can find it), OmegaT's aligner and bligner, and probably others as well.
Most of these produce .tmx files, but if you really want a plain-text file, you can convert easily, for example using my tmx2txt script.

Recommended! A neat tool back in those days. I really liked this aligner a lot and I think that even today, it would still meet my needs. Tesekür ederim for the link!

Agree fully with Wolfgang. TS 2000 was (is) an exceptionally user friendly alignment tool, much better then e.g., PlusTools which i recommended at first. However, I was not aware that it's still available on the web.
