Nina's posting about free calls from the USA reminded me about this service from the UK, that I have used a few times. It's not free but very cheap, e.g. 1 p/min to USA, France and Germany, 2 p/min to Switzerland. It can also be used to ring mobile phones, typically between 5 and 13 p/min.

Sorry if this repeats previous posts, but I've only used Voip internet calls for the last two months, with no problems. Calls to most European countries are free, the one I use is www.voipbuster.com
