Hi Lisa,
yes, Dragon Naturally Speaking works with CAT tools but there may be problems. DNS is intended to be used with the MS-Word interface and those of the CAT tools show incompatibilities that may be so severe to impede speech recognition.
These are the tools which I have used with DNS in the past: DVX2 > Works MemoQ > Works Trados Studio > Works, but problems
For more details, search the specific forum below (in Technical Forums).

Thanks again for the great answers. You are a great bunch, very helpful. I guess I will not be buying any spiffy new tools for a while. My typist would starve anyway if I started typing. BTW, I have always liked the dictating approach because you never have to take your eyes off the page. AND the typist also creates all those tables and inserts the figures, jobs I don't like.

The way how to convert transcribed translation to Translation Memory is: - to make a 2-column table (1st - source, 2nd - target) - to convert the table to Trados-like segmented text - to clean-up the segmented text with Trados ("Upd... See more

The way how to convert transcribed translation to Translation Memory is: - to make a 2-column table (1st - source, 2nd - target) - to convert the table to Trados-like segmented text - to clean-up the segmented text with Trados ("Update TM" option must be enabled).
I developed a toolkit which helps to do this by preparing source text and making all necessary conversions - free downloadable at TranslatorsFactory.Net .
The toolkit also has a tool for dictating translations as he always did - MARQUEE (scrolling text) with speed control. ▲ Collapse
