but Eudora, it nicely reads me aloud every incoming message sender and Subj., really helpful, even if at the moment I'm at the coffee machine, some distance away from the screen. In Eudora it is done via filters- you create filter to message incoming to your particular mailbox and then via drop-down menus add other options. I do not know anything about OE, but can only suppose it is constructed likewise. Uldis misho wrote: OE 6 / Win XP SP1. You have to set up a sound in the Windows Control Panel. I don't know how the setting called exactly (M$ likes to change the names of these features a lot), but it should be something like "Sounds and Multimedia"->Sounds. HTH, Benjamin

All this is done - New mail notification is selected, not no sound of incoming mail is heard. On the other hand, I do not have problems with the sond card and all other sounds and music files are played successfully. I just cannot guess where can be the problem. Any suggestions?

... I am exclusively unhappy about the way I did it. I did this according the acticlel recommended above, and there they say to put in the Windows register the name of the .WAV file, which one wants to use. As a result, one cannot change this sound form proper place, namely: Start> Settings> Control Panel> Sound and Audio Devices>Sounds>New Mail.
