I've recently run into a strange issue with a document converted from PDF into Word using Adobe ExportPDF service.

When opened either using Word 2007 for Windows or Word 2011 for Mac, the document displays the diacritics correctly. They are also spelled correctly. However, both words fail to pass the spell check. The spell checker suggests exactly the same spelling. See screenshot http://minus.com/mbeJJ9M7WC

This is obviously a codepage issue. The document was plagued with these apparently correct accent marks that failed to pass the spell check. Any ideas as to why this may be happening?

Thanks!

Unas pocas ideas Apr 11, 2012

Don't know why it happened but it seems like it is a coding problem, the OCR program put in some character that looks correct on screen but is not properly interpreted by the spell checker, don't know why it may have happened, fastest thing (if document not too large) would be to do the spell check and simply accept all the changes, if document is large one possible solution (if OCR program used same "coding" character each time it appears on screen) would be to do a find and replace, get each o...
