I have an intensive French course for a couple of Army officers who will be working mainly alongside a French contingent.

Although English will be their working language, and French only for social or collegial exchange, it would be great to add on some relevant vocabulary as used 'in the business'.

Are there course books or other ressources for military French ?

I'd be delighted if you would share your experience with me.

Brassey's multi-language military dictionary' Canadian & NATO Glossariess Jun 2, 2008

You might look into getting copies of these references:

Commercial publication:

Brassey's multilanguage military dictionary (big paperback)

Official reference # 1: Canadian Defence Forces (CDF) English - French Military Glossary (big paperback)

While you cannot request and get that "for official use only" CDF document, your military client should be able to request that CDF item through official military channels for purposes of supporting your unit's pre-deployment training.

As best I recall, NATO also published a series of multi-language guides (glossaries, rather than dictionaries) during the 1970-1980s.

Official reference # 2: NATO multi-language military references (glossaries)(various sizes)

Some of those NATO pubs were about "general military subjects" (basic tactics, military doctrine, staff functions, operations and planning, etc.), and other references covered specialized services (land, air and naval forces), arms (artillery, air defense, armour, engineers, etc.), and branches and arms. Depending on your remaining available time and the mission and interests of your group of military trainees, those NATO materials may be especially useful to supplement your current French training program.

Hope these referrals somehow help the success of your important language training program. Bon chance.
