What subjects interest you? May 13, 2010

Whether you are interested in chemistry, business, IT, international development, etc. any subject you study in addition to your languages will help you in your translation career. Just make sure it's something that really interests you. NYU also has a certificate in translation you could complete in addition, but I'm not sure if they offer Arabic. Hope that helps!

Thanks, they do offer a translation Certificate in Arabic.

So basically your advice is to finish my major "which is Computer Science btw" and then find a Certificate in translating from a reputable place.

Yes May 16, 2010

Yes, that would be my advice. If you are in the USA and intend to be based here, a certificate or some other type of formal recognition of your translation skills isn't absolutely necessary, but it's useful.
