Thank you for all your answers.

The concept of your product looks great (really), just upload a few TM's, lay back, have a beer and wait for the customer(s) to call.

Serious now. Like I said before, it looks too good to be true, but I will give a try, and if I have any questions in the future, I'll let you know.

Succes,

Rob

No barge poles here Apr 13, 2016

It seems unlikely that barge poles will be included in proz membership packages for the foreseeable future.

I wonder if all those profile options people were wondering about will change again....

Integrations between the two sites, for those who choose to use both sites to promote their services, will be explored, as mentioned in the FAQ. Those who prefer to limit their presence to one or the other should not be affected.

Just wondering Apr 13, 2016

I have not explored the detailed features of TM-Town, but from what I read, I cannot figure out the answer to these questions:
Is there any obstacle to upload a whole bunch of TMs from different specializations, and therefore being able to cast a very wide net in term of catching clients?
Is there anything that ensures that the TMs or documents or whatever are the work of the actual TM-Member who uploads them?

Hi Katalin,

Is there any obstacle to upload a whole bunch of TMs from different specializations, and therefore being able to cast a very wide net in term of catching clients?
Is there anything that ensures that the TMs or documents or whatever are the work of the actual TM-Member who uploads them?

Please see my answer in this other thread:

I would also add that now that we are part of ProZ.com, I think we'll be able to show even more information on one's TM-Town profile if you have your ProZ.com account connected (i.e. KudoZ points, WWA score, etc.). This will give end clients or agencies looking at a translator's profile even more potential data points when evaluating if that translator would be a good fit.

One thing we have already added in the past day is the Certified PRO badge, for those TM-Town members who have connected their ProZ.com account and are a Certified PRO.

Update the Trados plug-in Nov 13, 2022

Will there ever be a plug-in for Trados 2022?

The current version is for Trados 2015. That is 7 years ago…

Edit: I have created a support request.

Is it still active? May 20, 2023

I just queried TM-Town for a very generic term and it told me that the term wasn't found. How come?

Probably just died of neglect. The concept of uploading TMs is surely only viable in a world in which NDAs don't exist and one's clients are happy to have the content of their documents made public and shared with others!

In my world, that just doesn't happen. My clients pay me to be discreet and to keep the details of my work confidential. I'm sure there are some clients who don't about such matters, but I imagine that the majority of such clients aren't offering attractive rates.

If it is possible, I also don't know how, but you can delete your TM's.

Just tried to log in and obviously my account has been deleted. Good!

I must say, this is one of the weirdest portals I've ever seen. The info email address is still linked to the developer, who has left TM-Town many years ago.

Although my rank was #18 I never had one single inquiry via this site.
