Hi all,

Is it possible to translate Trados tagged RTF with the TW4Win styles (internal, external) in such a way that the tags are replaced by Transit tags/made invisible where possible?

I've used a user made FDD from a certain Frank from Frankfurt, but the Trados styles aren't hidden.

Thanks,

Hans

do not include the hidden text in importing your project Apr 3, 2010

You are not saying if it is XV or NXT.

Anyway, if you set it not to import the hidden text, you should get where you want to be.

Also, AFAIR, importing MS Wordfiles was easier for this workflow than true RTF, but I cannot recall why.

Solved via TTX? Apr 4, 2010

Thanks for the reply. I received an unsegmented RTF file made with some Trados tool (Tageditor?), containing both TW4winInternal and TW4winExternal styles. And some local formatting (font size, italics etc.).

I solved import this way (for now):

1. Load RTF file in Tageditor.

2. Save as TTX

3. Presegment TTX in TWB.

4. Create new Transit XV project.

5. Import TTX with TTX FFD.

6. Created a pseudo translatio

6. Created a pseudo translation.

7. Exported the TTX.

8. Opened TTX in Tageditor.

9. Saved as RTF.

10. Inspected the pseudo translated RTF.

The RTF file looks okay, but the local formatting is gone.

Question: Will this be problematic for the client?

If so, I'll have to clean the TTX in Tageditor and translate with Translate to fuzzy directly in Tageditor. If this isn't really necessary, I'd prefer to skip this extra step (since I've taken steps enough ...).
