Dear all,

I have a question about Transit. I received an order for 5700 words (transit count). The original Word file has 6300. I receive a pdf file first, and I transfer it to word and the word count is 7300. I have used http://www.hellopdf.com/ a free pdf to word doc converter. Maybe this software is not good enough?
Is this normal? What can happen?
Any suggestions?

Thank you in advance for your information and help.

It might be beacuse of the PDF May 4, 2010

In some cases, such PDF include hidden texts, for example in the same color of the background of the page.
so, this has nothing to do with Transit, Transit would never increase the word count so dramatically. Only few differences may exist from application to another due to the different counting rules. But this should never case such a big difference.

Why don't you use the original Word as long as you already have it.

Or may be the client sent you two files (Word and PDF), that are not really identical?

Best regards
ATT

Hard to say without seeing it, but all sorts of differences may be caused by including/excluding different styles, text boxes, headers and footers, etc.

After all, it gets down to the question if you are able and willing to accept a particular job for the amount your customer is offering. All word/character counts, rates etc. are just auxiliary means towards this end.

The question is that this order comes from an agency I worked with since 2007 and I would like to understand how technically this can happen. Do you have some experience on this kind of questions?
Do you recommend me to check everytime I get a job from this agency? This is also time consuming...and not very fun...
