Cultural treasure? Aug 21, 2010

In many countries, valuable people are raised as cultural treasure who contribute to mankind widely. I guess that UK has title of Sir for rewarding people etc. Will Edwin be raised to such status even after his death. If yes, it is going to be a memorable event to us the translators, in articular the one with multiple language proficiency.

Best regards,
Soonthon Lupkitaro

Very modest person Aug 22, 2010

I had the privilege of attending his English Literature lectures at Glasgow University many years ago (1966, I think). He was a good poetry lecturer, interesting and pleasant to listen to but I did not know about the extent of his work as a translator.
