Wigtown and Quidditch Sep 24, 2010

I'm originally from Wigtown and return often. The town (and the surrounding area) is steeped in history and since becoming Scotland's National Book Town another dimension has been added.

In Scotland, the festival has become second only to the Edinburgh Book Festival in stature. In the past, guests have included Kate Adie, Joan Bakewell, Magnus Magnusson as well as many local writers.

The two framed pages of the Harry Potter manuscript, signed by JK Rowling will be a tremendous boost for this year's event.

However, the Wigtown and Harry Potter relationship dates back to the Chamber of Secrets when a character says, "My favourite Quidditch team is the Wigtown Wanderers. Finest Team in the League!"
It's therefore fitting that two pages from this manuscript will go on show in Wigtown, the home of the Wigtown Wanderers quidditch team.
