Interpreter rejected by Britain is granted asylum in Germany

A British Army interpreter who was forced to flee Afghanistan after his father and brother were murdered by the Taleban has been granted political asylum in Germany following a campaign of support by former British army officers.

This underscores the urgent and long-term need for the British Government to train its own military interpreters and not rely on so-called local interpreters.
