I hope that no one here is owed any money from them Aug 28, 2015

Perhaps a link or note should be added to the blueboard page.

Why?

The company is not filing for bankruptcy or being dissolved. Its financial obligations will not change, including monies owed to subcontractors and other creditors, which they are most probaby duly paying, since the company seems to be very successful and, under new management, without the internal fights, will probably be even more successful.

I wonder how they got the contract for "Credible fear" interviews. I talked to a PM and she has no clue what it is all about.

Well, is a pity the judge did not order closing it. Aug 29, 2015

We do not really need Transweed translation companies like that, especially in NYC. $0.09/w or less for legal translation into English. A total abomination. Just draining jobs from professional translators.

Into Spanish is worse. They email to hundreds of translators into Spanish and offer rate as the following:
No match: 877.0 * 0.06 USD = 52.62 USD

or
Phase Name: Translation
Total Word count: 894
Unit of work: 'Flat'
Rate: 1.0 * 35.0 USD = 35.0 USD

They are millionaires! They pay peanuts to their employees and translators!
But I'm sure my life is happier than theirs!

It is annoying, even infurating, that their success is built on the exploitation of others, when they clearly have more than enough earnings to share with those who have helped them build their fortune.

As somebody who has followed this soap opera for a while, I am disheartened to read that progress might happen. Translation business issues aside, I would recommend a web search for anybody who wants a good laugh.

If big clients leave TPT, where would they go? Sep 2, 2015

Court records say: "Elting testified that clients “have expressed major concerns” about the disputes between her and Shawe, including “xxx, xxx, xxx, xxx, xxx, and numerous law firms.” ("08-13-15inreshawe&eltingllcmem.op.c.a.no.96619686970010449" p. 78). Question: If law firms leave TPT, where would they go? Lionbridge? What other agencies are at that level?

There are probably a few very talented and dedicated employees working at that agency (not the owners) who are the ones keeping things together and running operations behind the scenes. Once they leave (perhaps to open their own company), the company may fall apart.

Translators did accept peanuts after all... Sep 14, 2015

Well, we all know there is a wide choice of agencies out there, quite a few of them pay pretty decent and even good fees.

Professional translators are not being "forced" to contact this agency or the like, and to accept their jobs/fees. Truly professional translators are professionals, they are freelancers, independant.
This agency became rich not because they're ruthless, but because tousands of (professional) translators are ludicrousicon_wink.gif

Sorry guys, let's face it!

Tactics used to get translators' cooperation are making promises of better paid jobs at some point in the future (just do this one for next to nothing, next time I will make it up to you), providing misleading information about the nature of the job ("piece of cake, should not take more than two hours" when you know this is a hell of a job with lots of tables and formatting), claiming the client "has got an issue with your translation" in order to cut payments while no negative feedback was received at all, and overcharging clients for services not performed...."
