I didn't pass the test
Apr 1
I took two attempts with two different email addresses, with one result at high 60s and another one low 70s. I heeded some of our ProZ fellows' suggestions to cold call Netflix's preferred agencies and took their tests. Neither did I pass with any of them. I was of course a bit frustrated given that I had had three years of experience subtitle translating with a big TV broadcaster, but I 1 didn't take the tests too seriously after looking at their feedbacks. They failed the tests mostly for errors that can be deemed preferential changes. Not to mention the extremely low rates of subtitle translating. I don't mean to exaggerate, but many subtitle translation reviewers (who may be translators themselves) suffer the conflict of interests that make these pre-screening tests hard to pass: they fail the reviewees with the hope that they can take the jobs themselves (I have known full-time translators at the broadcaster I once freelanced with worked on projects from their employer on a freelance basis!). After all, no tears for "failing" the Hermes or any preferred vendors' tests, since they're not worth taking any of your life time. If you believe you're a seasoned good subtitle translator, go do the networking and be a direct vendor with clients who really appreciate your talents.

I never received a response

I took the test probably about 8 months ago and never received any kind of response. Rather unprofessional, especially for the time one puts into doing the test.
