Hi! I have a huge website to translate, but the client wants to know how much it will cost. They have no database of the textes ...
Does anybody know if there is any tool available to download all the texts of a website?
Thanks!

Customer must send the files Jul 20, 2010

If you download the whole site to your computer you might get too much. Ask them to send you the files they want to have translated or at least a list of them.
If the site has dynamic content (php), you are in trouble, because no software can count how much you have to translate.

The tool to download a whole web site is called an offline browser. HTTrack is a free one. But there is always a chance that you might miss a few files (or a lot of files). So send the client an estimate that includes all the file names, so that the client can see if you've missed anything, and to protect yourself so that you know what the word count of each individual page was when you sent your estimate. A program like OmegaT can be used to produce a word count.
