See more G'day everyone Some translators from the previous thread preferred not to have seen the original source text when they do the back-translation, so here is a piece of text for that. This is an attempt to see what people mean when they speak of a back-translation. If you have done back-translation for a client before, please do the following: 1. Go to http://www.proz.com/ (ProZ.com home page) 2. Scroll to the bottom, and select your language from the drop-down list 3. When the home page has reloaded in your language, scroll down and copy the section in italics that states that the site is still being translated. 4. Back-translate it into English, and post it here. ▲ Collapse

From French: You must know that the site hasn't been completely translated yet. Site localisation is done step by step and translation priority is given to the most visited pages. If you find a translation mistake in a localised page, thanks for advising one of the coordinators mentioned. I tried to do the best possible backtranslation. That is, I tried to render even the expressions as used in French. So, I believe this is a rather straight backtranslation, and that is why it probably feels like a translation. Please, note the incorrect sentence structure in the last sentence. It seems a noun was substituted for a verb in French - I carried the mistake over in my backtranslation. Can you see it?

I'm not sure if I'm allowed to participate in this thread, seeing that I'm one of the ProZ.com localisers into my language, so there may be some influence. Still, I don't see any other Afrikaans people around here, and I can't rightly ask for translations if I don't provide one myself, now can I? ▲ Collapse

Hi guys, I'm just starting to rev up in the site to see if I am well suited to become a freelancer. This is my first post in the forums and part of my, very, limited activity among the site. Anyway here's my back-translation... Todavía no se ha traducido la totalidad del sitio. Se está localizando por etapas, dando prioridad a las áreas de más actividad. Si encuentra algún error en cualquier zona del sitio ya traducida, por favor notifíquelo a uno de los coordinadores de localización arriba indicados. Please note that the whole site has not been translated yet. The site is being localized in stages, prioritizing most active areas. If you find an error in the translation of any part of the site, pleast notify one of the localization coordinators mentioned above. I would gladly take any sugestion or errors found in this post.
