Hi,

I would like to collect the opinion of freelance translators who are using (or not) Machine Translation tools. I have created a quick 2-question survey: just a couple of clicks to hear your opinion. Click here to take the survey: http://tiny.cc/MT897.

I have also submitted it as a quick poll here on ProZ, but I don't know when it will become visible. Please answer to only one of them.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Marco Aug 29, 2009

If "Never" is selected in question 1, question 2 can not be answered and the poll can not be completed. Sorry, but this way you will not be able to create any statistics.

Dear Nicole,

thanks for your input. Now it's fixed. Second question is not mandatory.

Can't answer your poll Aug 30, 2009

Sorry but I don't use any MT tools myself but that doesn't mean I don't post-edit MT output. Your survey needs to be given more thought and include other options. 2 questions just don't cover this subject matter.

The survey fits my needs Aug 30, 2009

Dear Rebekka,

thank you for your insight. I don't need a deep analysis of the usage of MT by freelancer, but just an estimate of how many translator actually use MT tools, either online or off line. For this purpose, as it is, the survey perfectly fits my needs.

Regards

MC

how can it fit 'your needs' when.... Aug 30, 2009

....many freelancers don't actually use MT tools directly.

Hi Marco,

I also cannot complete your survey as the option "None" is missing in the 2nd question. It is obviously necessary there.

Natalia

====================

OK, thanks for making the 2nd question not mandatory.

Additional note Aug 30, 2009

Thanks to anyone who participated in the poll so far.

To Natalie: the second question is not mandatory. You can simply skip it by clicking "done".

To Rebekka: frankly, I don't understand your concern about something which is clearly explained in my first message. You say, «how can it fit 'your needs' when.... ....many freelancers don't actually use MT tools directly.» This last sentence is your opinion. My survey is simply an empirical way of getting evidence for this statement (or for the opposite). It is not meant to be scientific, not complete (if I needed a serious one, I would have hired a company specialised in this). I repeat, it is just what I need for my purposes. If you know what suits my needs better than me, well, I wish I had such supernatural powers!icon_smile.gif

Thanks again for your collaboration

Marco
