Standar practice regarding translation of proper names

I was wondering what the most popular trend is in this regard, whether when translating from Spanish to English, leaving proper names in Spanish and add an English translation next to it, or an outright translation of English. I feel, particularly with regards to tourist guides, that the name as it is known locally should be left intact and a suitable translation added in parenthesis, etc. Is there a more prevalent standard?
for example:
Iglesia de Santa Marina de las Aguas Santas or Iglesia de la Caridad
To me, it would seem odd in an English translation that only the following would appear: The Church of Saint Marina and the Holy Waters or The Church of Charity
