While translating from Japanese into English, does the English text expand or contracts?
Thank you.

Fewer English words than characters May 13, 2015

If you have 1,000 Japanese characters you will get roughly half that number of English words. It will vary according to the type of text but somewhere between 400 and 600 words is likely. I think I average 450 or so but I haven't checked for a while.
