What kind of translation is advisable in order to translate a graphic novel?
- literary translation
- audiovisual translation
- localization
- intersemiotic translation
- specialised translation (depending on the topic of the graphic novel)
- other (specify)

All of the above, but it really depends on the type of novel Jun 3, 2015

For example, translation of manga might often try to retain the feel of the original more. If it's a literary graphic novel (something like Maus), then it's got to be a full literary translation.

Is this an exam question? Jun 4, 2015

The query sounds to me like something only someone on a translation course would ask. In fact, I'm not sure I really understand it. I have never translated a graphic novel or comic myself, but I imagine that a main area of difficulty might be the cultural background of the source and target audiences. For example, a lot of meaning in V for Vendetta relies on knowledge of Guy Fawkes and that period of English history, as well as current political trends.

Localization Jun 4, 2015

Locatization, because there are a lot of topics which need to be translated in the TL. But obvioulsy it depends on the graphic novel we are translating.

I translated comics (games) EN>TH and did Google Search for contexts and wording. It saved me a lot of translation time.
