Following are some glossaries that may come in useful if you\'re supposed to translate what I (with all due respect and more than a little exasperation) call \"devspeak\", or the jargon of development work, i.e., material on issues such as responsible corporate investment, HIV/AIDS and human rights, gender, and debt and development.

Investor Responsibility Research Center Definitions

HIV/AIDS and human rights: a kit of ideas for youth organizations

UNESCO; UNAIDS / UNESDOC: Online UNESCO documents , 2001

Resources in the guide include a list of frequently asked questions and answers and a glossary of HIV/AIDS and human rights terms and organisations.

Patricia Alexander, Sally Baden, Glossary on Macroeconomics from a Gender Perspective, prepared by Bridge in collaboration with GTZ - German Technical Cooperation, 2000

http://www.ids.ac.uk/bridge/Reports/re48c.pdf

Jutta Berninghausen, GTZ, Gender Glossary for Projects under Technical Cooperation in Indonesian-German Development Co-operation, National Technical and Vocational Education & Training Program (NTVET)

This glossary is designed not only as a \'plain\' dictionary \"English - Indonesian\", and \"Indonesian - English\" with just translating terms; explanations, background-information and examples are meant to provide a bridge towards awareness and intercultural understanding of women\'s and/or gender issues

Thanks for this long list of resources Apr 6, 2003

I\'ve been working on a development-related proposal - trying to weed out the business jargon (\"synergies\" and whatnot). Will be interesting to see what wording might bear adding.
