There is a very useful German-English site (Linguee.com) that links to millions of words/phrases/sentences translated between these two languages and available on the internet.

Does anything similar exist for French-English? Are there any other bilingual resources you find particularly useful for this language pair?

Thanks in advance for any help with this.

Another resource Apr 21, 2009

Have you tried http://www.wordreference.com

I find it a really useful resource combining a French-English dictionary and discussion forum. Also features Spanish, Italian, German and Russian.

Yes I'm familiar with Wordref. I agree with you - I certainly find it very useful for French-English.

DGT glossary terms included in my dictionaries Apr 23, 2009

In case it's helpful to anyone, my French-English dictionary includes about 30,000 terms from the DGT glossaries. When you look up a word, terms containing that word (if there are any) are displayed below the main entry:

http://www.french-linguistics.co.uk/dictionary/

(It's just French-English at the moment-- keep meaning to getting round to adding terms on the English-French side)

I also have a Spanish/English dictionary which again includes DGT terms (this time it works both ways):

http://www.espanol-ingles.com.mx/dictionary/spanish-english/

The sites are admittedly geared a bit more towards students than technical translators, but still you may find them useful.

Translation search engine May 6, 2009

In case it's useful to you, I've made available a translation search engine at:

http://www.translationexamples.com/

It currently searches the Europarl corpus (about 1,000,000 translated sentences from proceedings of the European Parliament) and works between English and French, Spanish, Portuguese, German and Dutch (in either direction). I'll hopefully add more languages soon, and if it proves useful to people, add improvements and more features/corpora.
