[I'm not in any way associated with the project, by the way.]
A book sprint is like a wiki, except that it is written quickly. A bunch of people participate in writing chapters for a book about a topic that they know something about. The end result is a book that can be updated at any time (like a wiki) but which can also be published.
There is a book sprint going on about opensource translation tools. Now the first half of the book is actually about translation in general and various types of translation and aspects of translation, and not specifically about opensource stuff. I would encourage anyone with time on their hands to visit the site and see if they can contribute.
