Looking for Japanese-English translation assistance software, suggestions

Greetings,

I have recently started work at a Japanese company where the bulk of my current duties includes translation between English and Japanese.

Most documents have been pretty lightweight thusfar but I now find that constantly switching between applications for large amounts of conent is unweildy and, frankly, annoying.

I was wondering if maybe somebody knows of some (preferably free) software where I could do the following:

Paste japanese text in one textbox and highlight words to get definitions.
The ability to enter English text into another text box (above or below the Japanese text).

Basically a sandbox dictionary application is what I am looking for.

This is pretty specific, so I would be more than welcome to any suggestions for software that may be completely different but useful.

Right now I am switching between online/paper dictionaries, Word (japanese copy or English), and Word (the copy I am editing), so any suggestions on how to make this job a little easier would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Sova

Some suggestions Jul 8, 2009

You can try Logovista CAT tools:

As for freeware, I'd recommend Wakan:

Kind regards,

MemoQ free version Jul 8, 2009

I believe the MemoQ free version would do that (and more) for you, as long as you maintain only one big dictionary and one big memory. That shouldn't be a problem if you have only one client.

The across freelance version (which is free) handles it also well.

Thanks! Jul 9, 2009

First and foremost, thanks to the mod for moving my post - I noticed later in the day that I had made a big mistake x_x

Thanks for all of your replies. There are errors in installing Wakan, probaby because C:\ becomes C:¥(YEN)

I just noticed, I do not have administrator rights on this PC. Any online utilities where I can paste a bulk of text and rather than getting a "translation" I can just get every word with its definition in a list or something like that? Something like Jim Breens maybe?

Thanks for all your help
