But my first impression is positive.

It seems that there are some glitches on this software. I could not import my ICQ contact list.

There is a manual add option. Bummer, I know.
I chose that so I don\'t know if it would have suceeded in importing my ICQ list.
The contacts from my other accounts were imported, no problem.

Powered by PROMT-Reverso technology, by the way. Before somebody accuses me of being a detractor to the profession by pointing people to this software, I think that the AIM Translator could be instrumental in eliminating all those \"How do I say I love you?\" questions from the KudoZ forums. I suspect that most of the non-proz posters are all into some sort of IM-powered relationships.
Really, I\'ve never seen so much love in this world as in the KudoZ questions!

Also, Windows, Mac, and Unix users can use Jabber. It can communicate with IRC, ICQ, AIM, Yahoo, and MSN (although AOL has a habit of blocking it..). Downloads:

I\'ve tried Trillian for some time, but it didn\'t work well. I was sucessful with MSN, and Yahoo Messengers, but it is impossible to integrate AIM, since AOL software team are always creating new ways to avoid this integration. AOL is publicaly against any kind of integration. See an NYT article extract below:

A member of the task force committee addressing the issue says that two relevant proposals will be discussed at the next I.E.T.F. meeting in Minneapolis in mid- March and that a recommendation may come as soon as this summer. Now if someone would just develop a protocol that pre- empts all the \"Age/Sex/Location\" instant- messaging requests from teenagers looking for love.

It\'s a dynamic world. The AIM moguls will put a barrier but somebody else will break it. We\'ve seen it happen with MP3s. The important thing is to be on the lookout for the new kids on the block, the neat software that thinks outside the box. I confess I am a download junkie. I install 2 or 3 new apps every week.
