Necesito un diccionario completo de ebonics (inglés afroamericano). ¿Sabe alguien dónde puedo encontrar alguno? Lo quiero electrónico. Me da igual que sea monolingüe.

Gracias

You're in a San Francisco bar. You've been away from the States too long, or you're not American. Somebody "disses" you, but you don't know the difference between a nerd, a geek and a dweeb. This site allows you to type in the troublesome word; definitions have been sent in by fellow surfers. For example, "geek: previously a four-letter word, now a six-figure salary." Careful, though: As the site says, it's not appropriate for all audiences.

Not specifically African-American but there's a lot of "ghetto talk" in it.
Good luck!

A note Mar 13, 2004

Be aware that the so-called "Ebonics" dialect is more a matter of pronunciation and grammar, rather than a distinct vocabulary.

See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_English_Vernacular

If you're looking for Black slang (which is not the same as Black English), scan the WWW for American or African-American/Black slang dictionaries.

Sorry, but Ebonics is not just a matter of phonology (pronunciation) and syntax (grammar). It is a quite comprehensive mix of phonology, syntax, semantics, lexicon, pragmatics and sociolinguistics, and empowered mainly by a lack of understanding of what language is.

See:

&
http://www.linguistlist.org/topics/ebonics/
(the latter link being a comprehensive discussion of formally trained theoretical linguistics and practitioners in the area of language learning in Afro-American language contexts and creole language contexts.
