Essential reading for E>F and F>E translators. I am only half finished and I have already learned so much.
Link to: Trucs d'anglais...

Copyright permitting, could you give an example of the kind of thing it talks about?

Livre: Les trucs d'anglais qu'on a oublié de vous enseigner Jun 10, 2011

Primarily aimed at French-speaking translators (although there are few chapters about French words that baffle English translators), English speakers can learn a lot too about French and about their own language through the difficulties French-speakers experience.

Here are some sample names of the 65 chapters:

Les Mots Rebelles
Traduire ou pas: dix conseils pour vous aider à choisir
Pièges et mystères de la langue anglaise
Le subjonctif anglais: une espèce en voie de disparition!
Les mots anglais qui font peur
Les sens cache des mots anglais
Les mots français qui confondent les anglophones (I)
Les mots français dans la bouche des Anglais
Ces mots anglais qui rendent perplexe…
Toilettez votre anglais à la virgule près

There is a 22-page extract available from this site (but I was not successful in opening it):

Thanks Jeff.
Great material for a business English teacher. I will definitely be buying that one.

Don't spose anyone's bought the electronic version? Jun 11, 2011

Looks an interesting book.

But by any chance has anyone bought the electronic version? The fact that the sample PDF is unviewable doesn't inspire confidence...

I don't know what you mean by that - if you go to the provided link, then click on "Extrait PDF" (right below the book cover image), the PDF opens correctly. I've read through the sample text, and I'm thinking about buying it...
