Some English Thesauruses Jun 22, 2004

1) MS Word Thesaurus. Always there when you're working in Word, and it's so easy to follow chains of meaning from one word to the next; much more convenient than paging through a book.

2) The Visual Thesaurus

3) The One-Look Reverse Dictionary can be used as a thesaurus if you enter a single word (though you can also enter several words or a phrase). It returns many irrelevant words, but it is easy to scan the list for good hits. This resource seldom lets me down when the "tip-of-the-tongue" phenomenon hits.

4) Lexical FreeNet.

What is the difference between the dictionary of synonyms and the theaururs? Jun 23, 2004

Thanks for your valuable information.I want to know what is the difference between the dictionary of synonyms and the thesaurus? I know the thesaurus is a list of synonym but I find that the dictionary of synonym differs from thesaurus with defintion for each synonym I wonder is this the only difference and at last which is better? the dictionary of synonym or thesaurus?

Is the one I have. It is THE ONE college students in the U.S. are required to buy.
