Are you sure you want to study "EN 15308 Characterization of waste" Jun 5, 2012

BS EN 15308:2008
Characterization of waste. Determination of selected polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB) in solid waste by using capillary gas chromatography with electron capture or mass spectrometric detection

It can be purchased here: http://shop.bsigroup.com/ProductDetail/?pid=000000000030136953

EN 15038 = about 17 pages, EN 15308 = about 38 pages, depending on the language.

Hello Sofia,

Like Siegfried, I'll assume that you're talking about the "Translation Services" norm. It is 17 pages long if you start with the table of contents (i.e., if you exclude the paginated title page) and end with the bibliography.

Sincerely,
Michael

You might mean EN 15038, the translators' standard. A draft version floats about the net, in PDF, so that's probably what you had found. It is all rubbish, if you ask me. Why do you need to study it?

Sounds very interesting indeed! And I mean it!

yep...mistake..... Jun 5, 2012

Yes, I was talking about the 15038...slip of the fingers...

Well, I know that before hand people needed to buy this. Now I need it for work, and I found it for free online without much hassle, so I thought that maybe this one isn’t the one I should be looking for.. at least not the full version.
I have to study the EN 15038 (let's see if this time i get it right...) for a report my boss is doing...so I really need to base myself on the actual document and not a shorter version...

Look it up in a library Jun 5, 2012

I am not familiar with the library system in Portugal, but I assume that you should be able to find it in any major (national) technical library with a department for standards. Your national standards organization also might have a reading room where standards can be read for free.
(For example, the largest technical library in Slovenia has a standards department with free access and our national standards organization also allows visitors to use the reading room at no charge.) Standards libraries are an excellent resource for terminology in any technical field - a must for a technical and scientific translator.
