The aim of the list is to provide a forum where academic linguists can discuss linguistic issues and exchange linguistic information.
An absolute must for anyone interested in linguistics and related topics with a huge amount of useful links.

- You may also subscribe to the LINGUIST; the LINGUIST is a free service, and comes in two versions:

Dear All:
Evert\'s announcement got me most excited and I rushed to check out the said list. To my greatest disappointment, this is what I found (this morning, 4/24/2002) when following the link \"http://linguistlist.org\" LINGUIST LIST KIDNAPPED! We need your help to pay the ransom...\"
A rather bitter message follows, announcing that out of about 15 thousand subscribers roughly 500 have contributed so far. If anyone has more recent info, please share...

I also got that black page a couple of minutes ago. Since I - and I believe, you as well - am among the 15300 who haven\'t donated, click where indicated. Then a form opens, but at the bottom of the page you see three links: Linguist Home, Read Linguist and something else. Click on Read Linguist and it should be OK
