I was told about a CD containing a SAP glossary in some 4-5 languages and is marketed directly by SAP. This topic may already have been posted earlier but I havent found it here hence the question once again! I would want to know from our colleagues whether this CD marketed by SAP is worth buying. I wonder if it is comprehensive enough, particiularly in view of the fact that it is in 4-5 languages. It costs some 110 EUR I am told. I am thankful for this info but none of the colleagues have really told me if they found it useful and that is really what I want to know. I work with German and English, which is why that combination is of interest to me. Moreover the version is of the year 2002 and ther seems to be no update thereof. the price too is higher now 116 EUR. | | | Hirschmann (X) Local time: 23:11 English to German + ... I used to work in-house at SAP and part of my job was to add to the German -> English terminology in SAPTerm. If you are doing any work whatsoever related to SAP, I would recommend getting this. If the work is for SAP directly, you should be able to get a free copy. SAP terminology quite often exists in a world of its own. SAP terminology quite often exists in a world of its own. Quite often, I'd look up a perfectly normal word, only to find that SAP had its own unique translation that needed to be used (but, annoyingly, none spring to mind at the moment!). After a while, translating into SAP-speak became second nature. However, this also means that SAPTerm might not be that useful if you are not translating SAP material. In extreme cases, it might mean that you use an approved SAP term that another client views as wrong. BTW, if you are translating for SAP, you really need to get your hands on the in-house style guide as well (full of many more SAP quirks that need to be followed in any translation). ▲ Collapse | | | Michael Beijer United Kingdom Local time: 22:11 Member (2009) Dutch to English + ...
