I wonder if there are any public terminology resources available for the GUI terminology used by various web browsers (like Firefox, Chrome and Safari).

Microsoft have their terminology portal (http://www.microsoft.com/Language/en-US/Search.aspx) but I haven't found anything corresponding for the browsers mentioned above (or for various non-MS software products for that matter).

a few resources… Nov 10, 2014

Hi Thomas,

Nothing very official or up-to-date I'm afraid, but here are a few interesting resources:

Mozilla:

See: http://www-archive.mozilla.org/projects/l10n/mlp_glossary.html

I have the Dutch-English version up on my website (http://wordbook.nl/ ) @ http://wordbook.nl/content/MOZILLA.txt

Opus:

http://opus.lingfil.uu.se/GNOME.php
http://opus.lingfil.uu.se/Ubuntu.php
http://opus.lingfil.uu.se/KDEdoc.php
http://opus.lingfil.uu.se/KDEdoc.php
http://opus.lingfil.uu.se/PHP.php

Apple:

http://wordbook.nl/content/Apple-Glossary-(43,698-Dutch-English-entries).txt

Translation Project:
I have a massive TMX I created a while back from hundreds of freely available open source PO files I found via:
http://translationproject.org/html/welcome.html

In general, all the OS stuff is online here and there as PO files, so do some searching for "PO", etc

Michael
