Searching for multilingual glossary for refugees
Thread poster: lindaellen
Jan 12, 2016

I vaguely recall seeing a forum entry on a multilingual glossary for refugees. Unfortunately, now that my Swiss-German community of 4000 will be taking in 100 refugees from various countries, i.e Syria, Afghanistan, Eritrea, etc. I can't find it. Does anyone remember or know of an appropriate glossary. Actually it should be in German plus the other various languages.

Thanking you in advance.

Online phrasebook? Jan 13, 2016

I have read about these two resources either on some translation site or somewhere on Twitter, but not actually looked at them properly:

http://www.refugeephrasebook.de/refugee_phrasebook/#more-55

http://translation-clinic.com/multilingual-health-information-refugees-germany/

http://translation-clinic.com/multilingual-health-information-in-germany_2/

Maybe you can find something useful in there.

Best wishes

Andrea

RPB and more resources Jan 14, 2016

Hello Linda
as Andrea already posted, in the Refugee Phrasebook website you will find a lot of resources. I'm directly involved in RPB translations and proofreading too, and I can give you direct contacts if you need particular language combinations or country-tailored glossaries.
The community is based in Berlin and active all over Europe. The developers have just launched a short video for 2016 goals, if you or other colleagues are interested: https://youtu.be/rDwyU9I1QJA

I'll be in touch with the organizers and see what specific languages are needed. I'm grateful for your help.
