I am looking for a *competent* file comprision utility for Word documents (for documents of up to several tens of thousands of words... ).

MInimum requirements:

- properly handles arbitrarily long sequences of different text (not like the Word utility, which craps out at 750 seqential characters (!) and delivers unreliable results)

- accepts either Word or RTF file formats

If anybody knows of something suitable, I would very much appreciate hearing about it.

Use TRADOS Workbench Sep 30, 2002

In TRADOS Workbench there is an option for analysing textes. So if you analayse two similar documents, you will get the number of identical segments (and wordcount for them), number for nearly identical segments (down to 95%) and so on.

This utility handels Word and RTF files as well and works quite reliable.
