You can learn English idioms by consulting websites like these:

http://titania.cobuild.collins.co.uk/Idiom.html

http://www.world-english.org/idioms.htm

Is anyone aware of a service you could subscribe to and be actually sent an idiom a day just like they do for a word a day?

Hi Jacek icon_smile.gif

I don\'t know if it actually works, but that\'s what the first link here offers:

Let me know how it turns out if you subscribe icon_smile.gif

I know of:

http://www.buzzwhack.com/buzzcomp/dict.htm you can subscribe to receive a buzzword a day

But the best ever is Wordspy at http://www.wordspy.com/ - you can subscribe to receive a set of newly coined words everyday.

I have collected some interesting links to websites devoted to English language here. Check the category For Language Lovers.

Best,

Investor words... Nov 14, 2002

Particularly interesting for financial translators - www.investorwords.com offers a word a day e-mail service.

I have checked this link and found out that this is a paid service ($20/year)designed for English language students rather, for additional fee you can also receive \"interactive exercises that allow you to check your understanding of the idioms\". And the messages are once a week.

Best,

Magda

Jacek, you can also try the following services:

http://www.testden.com/students/idiom.htm

http://www.owad.de/index.html

(Every weekday you receive an important word or idiom selected from the international press)

I guess that\'s one place where I won\'t be learning any idioms!

Thanks for the research and the warning icon_smile.gif
