Word count in images

Hello,

I have to make a quote for a ppt. presentation, I normally use Practicount, but this ppt. has a lot of images containing text. Is there a way (not manually) to count words in image files?

Extract the images and convert them into readable text using a software of Optical Character Recogniction, such as Abbyy FineReader, Iris, Textbridge...

If you can pump the images through OCR, you can do a word count on the OCR'ed text, if you trust that the OCR is good.

You have your own OCR if you're using Microsoft Office

START > PROGRAMS > MICROSOFT OFFICE > MICROSOFT OFFICE TOOLS > Microsoft Office Document Imaging

· Extract the images and save them as .TIFF
· Open Microsoft Office Document Imaging
· Import the first image
· Click on the icon "Recognize text using OCR"
· Now you can copy the text manually using the arrow "Select" or clicking the icon "Send text to Word"

A tip: Import .TIFF images one by one.

Unless you already own MS Office 2007, you still need to buy new software

I have MS Office 2003 now... Oct 7, 2007

But this application was already in use since MS Office 2002.

Well... I've been that lucky.
