4. On how many translation forums do you post?

If you mean websites/portals: two.
On ProZ.com I post in 4 or 5 forums but I read almost all new topics posted in all forums.

5. Which are your top three choices in forums and why?
On ProZ.com:
- Linguistics - because I'm interested in linguistics in general
- Spanish - to practice Spanish as it is one of my source languages, and because I enjoy the discussions in that forum
- Translator resources (this forum) - to learn about new resources and translation tools that may be useful in my work.

Good luck with your paper!

Thankq to all of you who answered my survey. I found some very interesting new things from the information you've given me.
Nevertheless, I decided to include in my paper the following chapters:
1. TRADOS
2. Independant programmes (no idea what a technological marvel they are!)
3. Online dictionaries: www.granddictionnaire.com - incredibly useful to all technical translators out there (french to english and the other way around), www.atilf.fr (monolignual, french)
4. Forums: KudoZ and help.berberber.net
5. MT: Babel Fish vs. Reverso (just statistical, not encouraging anyone to use them for professional purposes!) - conclusion Babel Fish is 4% more accurate for the automotive field, but both of them 75 to 80% inaccurate!!!

You should also look into these and see if they are useful to you.
Oh and Maggie T, I think you must have understood MT (you said you tried not to use any, but CAT tools should be used).
I feel that the difference between MT and CAT is not clear enough even for specialists...

ANYWAY! Thanks to all of you! I got a straight A for my work
