Did any of the peers go to this conference? There was a large Norwegian contingent.

Dear Lai

You may like to visit these links below that will give you complete picture of FIT Congress in Shanghai which was a great success. As a representative of Indian Translators Association I did participate in this congress, and learnt a lot about China in particular and Translation world in general. This congress gave me an opportunity to interact with representatives of translators associations of the world, which further enriched my knowledge especially about various translation standards and technology know how. For Indian Translators Association it was more special as our association was voted to become regular member of FIT, the first ever Indian translators Association to join FIT. More interestingly we were voted to be on board of FIT Council as well, yet another gift. I also had an opportunity to interact with Mr. Henry Liu, President of the New Zealand Society of Translators and Interpreters (NZSTI) who explained to me in detail about activities of NZSTI and translation activities in New Zealand. Hope to interact with him in future as well to develop close relationship between translators community of India and New Zealand.

FIT XVIII World Congress, Shanghai, China - August 2008 - Internet links Aug 12, 2008

Hello,

The Romanian Translators Association was represented at the FIT XVIII World Congress in Shanghai by Anca Greere, PhD with a very interesting presentation entitled „Extreme” Translation Briefs in Advanced Translator Training: The Misleading Pitfalls and Apparent Advantages.

The Romanian Translators Association is an observer to FIT Europe, the European Regional Center of FIT, since March 2007 and was ratified as FIT Regular Member at the Statutory Congress in Shanghai.

I would like to share with you a collection of links gathered by Mr. Jørgen Christian Wind Nielsen, the Union of Communication and Language Professionals, Denmark. Enjoy!

Dear Cristina

Thanks for these updated links. They are very extensive and detailed. I found them all very useful.

During FIT Congress I did have a chance to listen to Ms. Anca Greere who presented credentails on behalf of The Romanian Translators Association, and it was an excellent one. I did extend congratulations to her in person.

My sincere congratulations to all members of Romanian Translators Association.

Best regards

Ravi Kumar
