Федерація шахів України від імені всіх шанувальників нашої прекрасної гри щиро вітає чоловічу національну збірну команду в
складі міжнародних гросмейстерів Василя Іванчука, Руслана Пономарьова, Андрія Волокитіна, Олександра Моїсеєнка, Павла
Ельянова, Сергія Карякіна, тренера міжнародного гросмейстера Володимира Тукмакова, керівника команди Леоніда Тимошенка з блискучою перемогою на 36-й Всесвітній шаховій Олімпіаді.
Своєю упевненою грою з першого туру і до кінця Олімпіади наша команда не залишила ніяких шансів у боротьбі за перше місце своїм грізним конкурентам та виявилась єдиною із 130 команд, що не програла жодного матчу.
Вигравши олімпійський турнір, українські шахісти завоювали таким чином за останні роки усі вищі чоловічі звання Міжнародної федерації шахів в особистому і командному заліку.

FINAL. Ukraine (men) and China (women) Olympic Champions. The 36th Chess Olympiad came to an end after a last round full of excitement and emotion. Some sources had anticipated short draws in the leading matches, to consolidate positions, but over the board all the contrary did in fact happen. All the teams went into open fights trying to win their matches by a large margin so as to improve their final standings. Ukraine gave no room for surprises; the 3 point margin separating them from Russia was more than enough, and by beating France 3-1 they consolidated an outstanding victory that will make history. As a matter of fact, the Russians had not lost an Olympiad since 1978 in Budapest, where the Hungarians took the gold medals. In the women's section China confirmed their World supremacy by obtaining the first place with 31 points, 3 more than the United States who defeated the Russian team in the last round. USA totalized 28 points and Russia finished third with 27 points, tied with Georgia but with a better tiebreak. Chess21, official game broadcast plataform of Calvià, has provided live coverage of the most important games.
