SP3 fpr Windows XP has not yet officially released May 11, 2008

Or am I not correctly informed?
You can get the preleease-candidate of SP3, but this is beta software and I wouldn't install it on my production machine.

TOPIC STARTER
Dear Jerzy, May 11, 2008

SP3 has been released, and it’s downloaded and installed automatically from Windows Update for those who have been foolish enough to set their XP on Automatic Update.

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

For the moment only an optional May 11, 2008

AFAIK, the automatical update will not start before June. That means, even if you have set your OS on automatic update, for the moment, you must download the SP3 from Microsoft's website if you wanto to get it absolutely.
I too would wait as long as possible, thoughicon_smile.gif

Remove programs option doesn't appear Jun 15, 2008

I downloaded and installed SP3, but then found that I cannot remove programs from control panel. The remove option disappears from the list of programs. I don't if this is because of SP3 or something else. I had to restore the system in order to delete the SP3.
