Ctrl+V (and even "Paste" from any menu) doesn't work Thread poster: Natalya Zelikova

Suddenly I lost all options to paste copied text in all applications (browsers, Word, e-mail program, etc.) I can use Ctrl+X (or delete), I can use Ctrl+C (copy), but when I try to paste anything (either with Ctrl+V, from contextual menu or from the toolbar Edit menu) I paste only one space. The only thing that helps is to display Clipboard panel (in Word) and click an item to paste it. Is there something wrong with my Clipboard? How can I fix it? ... You have, of course, tried rebooting your PC to see whether that would make the problem go away? That's the first thing I would try. HTH, Benjamin

If it is XP, you can try Start>All programs>Accessories>System tools>System restore to restore your system to some earlier time when all was OK. (That doesn't affect your recent documents, I mean you will not loose any data). Uldis

That's the point. I haven't installed anything and have only worked with my usual everyday programs. I am planning to reinstall the system and make some upgrade later today, but I would just like to know, why this has happened.

try to do the following. Go to Start > Run and type exactly what follows (be sure there is a space before the slash): sfc /scannow This will scan your windows files for corrupted system files, but you will be asked to load your winXP CD from which good original windows files will be copied - so make sure you have the CD handy.

Nick Lingris United Kingdom Local time: 09:12 Member (2006) English to Greek + ... Keyboard problem? | Sep 22, 2005 |
In my more than 20 years in computing, this is the first time I hear of a clipboard problem. I find it more likely that it is a keyboard problem (I once spent a nightmarish hour trying to understand what was wrong, when it was just a book pressing against the keyboard's Escape key). All I could suggest is that you unplug the keyboard and plug it back in, probably after cleaning any areas that may have gathered dust.
read the following forum, http://www.pcreview.co.uk/forums/thread-1476169.php MBlast virus did it to someone. Ctrl+V is a keyboard shorcut, but have you tried using your right mouse button to copy and paste? Maybe something went wrong with keyboard shortcuts? Piotr

I have checked the keyboard as soon as I noticed the problem and it was not it's "fault". (I've tried another keyboard). I also can't use contextual menu (right button on my mouse) and can't use Edit->Paste in all the programs I use (Word, my browser, e-mail program, etc.) Reinstallation didn't help either. So it looks like it is a virus.
