I am having a problem with MS Office 2003 when translating Excel files by Wordfast 5.53q.

1. I open new MS Word file, start WF panel
2. Open the .xls file to be translated
3. Select the cell to be translated
4. Open Word, start translating (Alt+Down)
5. Do the first segment
6. Proceed to the next segment (Alt+Down again)
7. MS Office freezes. Nothing works.

I tried to wait for some time, but it just doesn't work. Have to finish the program from Task manager.

MS Windows XP Home Edition SP3 (Japanese)
MS Office 2003 (Japanese)

Thank you!

not a fix, but an alternative Jan 28, 2009

try alternative method #2 here

or perhaps another version of WF, or Word?

alternative method #1 Jan 28, 2009

like lori said, while the method #2, might once more, produce difficulties with several hundreds of cells of a chart, try using a tabbed csv file from the method #1. simply convert chart to tabbed text and save as csv.

i also found out that keeping the _ms office updated at its maximum, as well as having added the MS Open XML plugin_, greatly strenghthens the Ms Word, for instance. indeed.
