I have an important Wordfast TM which is now up to over 8,900 entries. I've exported it as a TMX file to use with another tool, but find that I am rapidly approaching the size limit for TM databases in that tool. It was suggested that I break up the large TM into several smaller ones. What is the best way to do this?

Which TM do you want to split? Mar 26, 2009

If it’s the source Wordfast TM, you can do it in any text editor by removing unnecessary lines. If it’s a TM of the other tool, you should ask in the respective support forum.

compress it Mar 26, 2009

use the 'compress' and 'reorganize' option of WF to remove the TUs that have never been re-used, i.e. have count equal to '0'. The TM will shrink dramatically. Then export ot TMX and hook up in Trados or whatever you have there...
