I forgot to open a new TM for a piece of work, with the result that the TM for the new piece is attached to a large TM for other pieces.
Can anyone please tell me if there's any way I can:
- copy the TM I need into a new TM, a .tmx
or
- create a new TM from the uncleaned doc, again .tmx

And yes, I am panicking

Thank you

Suzi

I assume you're using Wordfast Classic.

1. Make a copy of the TM, and rename it to your new TM's name.
2. Load that new TM in WF (it will still have all the unwanted TUs (translation units)).
3. Open WF's TM Editor (second button from right on WF Toolbar).
4. Click Tools, and then in the "Type your filter here" type this:

Date < 20090610~130000

(assuming the TUs from your previous job (i.e. the unwanted TUs) all date from before 2009-06-10 (which is today) and from before 13:00:00 (which is 1 o'clock in the afternoon).

5. Press ENTER to activate the filter. Then press Ctrl+A to select all.
6. Press Ctrl+X (to "cut" the lines) and Ctrl+Del (to "delete" the lines).
7. You should now have a TM with just the lines you want.
8. Use WF's TM Editor to convert it to TMX (Tools > Convert to TMX).

From the unclean document Jun 10, 2009

Hi Susanna,

I would have thought you could go into your unclean document, change the TM to a new (empty) one, then clean up and your new TM should have only those segments from your translation. Then do the usual filters from the TM editor to create a tmx file. You can then go back into your original TM (txt file) and simply delete the segments which shouldn't be there.

Thank you very much.

Once I'd stopped running around like a headless chicken, I took a deep breath, actually several, went back to my uncleaned doc, created a new TM from it, then exported it as .tmx.

Feeling very very stupid.
