I cleaned a Word document translated with Wordfast. I did not back it up before cleaning.
I have the .BAK file created by Wordfast.
Is it possible to restore the bilingual document I had before cleaning-up?
I am using Wordfast 5.601.
Thanks and best regards, AT

Dear Argentine Translator,

the easiest way to restore the bilingual document would be the following:

1. Open the source document;

2. Load the translation memory you created when you translated the source document;

3. Click on the "Autotranslate while 100% match icon" (or shift+control+pagedown);

4. Save the bilingual document with a new name.

This way, you should be able to obtain quickly your source+target document.

I hope this will help. Good luck!

Tania

Just open the .bak file and you should have the uncleaned version on your screen.

Best,

Regarding Tania's method Jul 30, 2009

I often use it, but you have to remember to check afterwards, because wordfast will give every section the font style (bold, normal or italics) it finds in the first letter, so you alwys need to check for these things afterwards.

And if you open it in Word, you can save it as a .doc file, remembering to distinguish it from the cleaned file by changing the name slightly.
